Any retired teacher who resides in/or has taught in the Greater Bridgeport area (which includes Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Milford, Monroe, Stratford, Trumbull, and Shelton) and who receives a pension from the Connecticut State Teachers Retirement Board is entitled, upon proper application, to receive the following benefits:
Provided sufficient funds are available, any member may apply for the following benefits regardless of income:
Short-term home health care and/or home-maker assistance. The coverage limit is ten hours per week for a period of up to one month at the rate of no more than $25.00 per hour.
After one month, continued assistance is available (provided a reevaluation has been made by Family Services Woodfield) for a period of up to three additional months.
In order to receive further coverage beyond the three additional months, the client must have an individual annual income of $45,000 or less and undergo another evaluation by Family Services Woodfield. Long term assistance is not provided.

Provided sufficient funds are available, any member whose individual annual income is $45,000 or less may apply for these benefits. Applicants must provide the first two pages of theirmost recent 1040 Income Tax form which must contain the client’s legible, legal signature. Your income includes interest, dividends, pensions, annuities, Social Security, and IRA distributions. A copy or your 1099-R form from the State of Connecticut Teachers Retirement Board will also be required. The Fund will pay up to $250 per month towards Health Insurance premiums.

Provided sufficient funds are available, any member whose individual annual income is $45,000 or less may apply for lifeline. It is up to the individual to choose a provider. The Fund will pay up to $35.00 a month. Applicants must meet financial requirements listed under Health Insurance.
