We are pleased to announce that our next meeting will be held at the Mill River Country Club in Stratford on November 10, 2022.
Our November meeting will focus on honoring veterans and our speaker, Captain Daniel Geraghty is uniquely qualified to speak on Service to County.
Captain Daniel Geraghty is a former US Army Infantry Officer who served on active duty in the United States Army, as well as in the New York and Connecticut Army National Guard. He has also taught Leadership and Small Unit Tactics as an Instructor for the CT National Guard's Officer Candidate School (OCS). He is also a US Army Ranger who is Airborne, and Air Assault Qualified.
Dan began his career as a public school teacher in 2003, where he taught for 10 years at Staples HS in Westport, then served as the Dean of Students at Joel Barlow HS where, after earning his cross certification in special education, he decided to re-enter the classroom . Daniel is now in his third year of teaching English and Special Education classes at Trumbull High School. Captain Geraghty is the author of Cast Away Stones: An Eyewitness Account of 9/11 and Memoir of a Survivor, Soldier, Citizen and will have copies of his memoir available for purchase.
At the November luncheon GBRTA will accept donations for the Mercy Learning Center in Bridgeport. The Center provides basic literacy and life skills training to women with low income using a holistic approach within a compassionate, supportive environment. All women are welcome without regard for race, religion, color, creed, sexual orientation or national origin. Mercy Learning Center provides free childcare for children aged three months to four years in a licensed Early Childhood Education Program . The program provides a safe and nurturing space for children so that mothers can focus on their own learning, to promote a multi-generational approach to learning, and to ensure that children are prepared for English-dominant Kindergarten programs

The business portion of the meeting will begin at 10:30, followed by the program. Lunch will be served at noon. If you are attending the business portion of the meeting and not staying for lunch, please call to let us know that you are coming so we can arrange seating for you. Make your check payable to GBRTA with date, menu choice and your phone number on the check. Only one date per check. Checks must accompany reservations. No payment accepted at the door.
