Remembering Our Veterans

An ongoing project of the Social Services committee is the collection of new personal items and toiletries for distribution at the New Haven Veterans’ Hospital. If, on your vacation, you collected personal sized samples of soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc., bring them along to any meeting and the committee will package and send them to the Hospital. Remember – both male and female veterans would appreciate them.

Start Planning for the Shoebox Project

Ronnie Hendrick, Chairman of the Social Services committee, has proposed that the GBRTA continue the Shoebox Project for the holiday season. The task is to fill an ordinary shoebox with small toys and personal objects for a child between the ages of 5 and 14 and label the box with the sex and age of the child. Boxes may be decorated but not sealed.

The filled boxes should be brought to the November GBRTA general meeting. The gifts will be distributed to needy children around the world through Samaritan’s Purse, a charity headed by Franklin Graham, Billy Graham’s oldest son.
